Rachel Brannon Named Tilles Elementary Teacher of the Year!

Fort Smith Public Schools is proud to announce that first-grade teacher Rachel Brannon has been named the Tilles Elementary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Brannon’s dedication to her students, innovative teaching strategies, and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment make her an invaluable part of the Tilles community.

Ms. Brannon uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage and support diverse learners. Each week, she plans six differentiated reading groups tailored to meet the individual needs of her students. She prioritizes building strong relationships, knowing each student’s strengths, challenges, and motivations. This relationship-building creates a supportive classroom community where students feel safe to take risks and celebrate each other’s successes.

A data-driven educator, Ms. Brannon recognizes and celebrates student progress, boosting confidence and motivation. Her lessons are rigorous and encourage critical thinking, while her clear and consistent expectations create a structured and fair learning environment. She continually adapts her instruction based on formative assessments, ensuring each student receives the support they need to thrive.

Beyond her classroom, Ms. Brannon plays a vital leadership role at Tilles. She leads multiple committees, coordinates Capturing Kids' Hearts initiatives, and actively participates in school events. She also organizes opportunities for staff to connect outside of school, fostering a positive and supportive culture among her colleagues. Her lasting impact is evident, as former students continue to visit her, reflecting the deep and meaningful connections she builds.
